More soccer pics

Julia played her final soccer game last week and once again made us proud.  I think she's ready for the 5-6 year old team.  She is speedy and has good ball control and after she makes a goal, she gets aggressive enough to get in there to do it again.

she's the smallest one out there :)

but maybe the quickest...

Next is a series of Julia making a goal.  One of my favorite pics is her teammate jumping for joy as she made the goal.

Sailing Away

Brett is an amazing father...no two ways about it.  He loves our kids so much and what a better combination of the kids together and sailing?

We were almost about to call our sailing weekend off due to the weather but we were so happy we forged ahead.  The weather cooperated and we enjoyed a night in Anacortes and a night in Friday Harbor.  And Brett got to enjoy his Father's Day floating around the San Juans.

Napping on the rocking boat or napping in Daddy's arms.  Tough call.

Spending time in the garden

Weeks ago I got inspired to plant some flowers.  The inspiration took a deep hold and I was working every spare moment for 2 weeks to get plants in the ground and dig up plants that were no longer living.
I'm proud to say that our pots are planted on the deck, window boxes done, veggie garden started.  Bulbs planted.  Sunflower seeds planted.

All in time for Julia and Tyler to start a gardening class that they complete today.

Oli is happy because he loves basil and eats the plant to the stem.  Chocolate mint leaves being his second favorite and Julia's first.  Tyler's favorite are the strawberries.

Brett surprised me and his enjoyment of being able to pick all of our own lettuce every night for a salad.  Now, we just have to hope that the bunnies continue to stay away.

"Here Mom, I'm helping.  I'm collecting these as fast as you can put them in the ground, I'll be sure to remove them."

That was a fun game until.....Tyler saw the drain in which he loves to drop leaves and pebbles down and yup, sure enough.  If you turn the cute hand crafted sign just the right way, you can fit it down the drain for good.  Just look at that look on his face, I should have known he was up to no good.

Our nanny sent me this picture.  The story goes...our nanny was going to water the plants for me and Julia says, "I'll be right back to help"  And 5 minutes later she arrived completely changed, with a watering can that she has picked and placed a beautiful flower in and says, "I'm all dressed and ready to water plants now!"

We're proud of our newest Runner.

Oli's spring sport was Track and Field through the Kirkland Boys and Girls Club. We were so proud of his effort and his perseverance.

The races he liked best were the mile, 800 meter, 400 meter and the 100 meter.  He also tried long jump and softball throw but he tended to choose the running races in the latest track meets.

His fastest mile was 7:20!

We have plans to run (and more importantly train) for a 5k this summer and see how well he can do.

Grit.

Lean in.

J doing her own race, racing Oli's little brother, Luke.  Julia is winning and proud of it. When she tries hard, she sticks out her tongue.  Love that.

Oli is one of those runners that makes some great faces when trying so hard.

"Go Ahhhyeee" (aka Oli)
A photo taken by Julia who couldn't quite hold up the heavy camera let alone focus. But a picture of Oli and after Beat the  Bridge a month ago.  That 5 mile race was the longest race Oli had ever run.  We ran as part of Prime 8's team (the company I work for).  Oli wears that running shirt at least 2x a week still.

Snowboard Bed

An idea has been festering in my brain for a couple of years now and it is finally complete (even if I don't have a picture of the final product).

Oli's room has some cool sporty elements and with the final addition of a snowboard headboard, it looks great. Julia enjoyed the project more than Oli but Oli loves the finished product!

Happy Birthday!

Our little guy turned 2 - I cannot believe it.

We enjoyed a beautifully sunny birthday for him on Saturday and more festivities to come this weekend for his party.

Two cute things Tyler did all weekend.  If someone were to say to him, "Happy Birthday" he would reply, "Happy Birthday", as if someone had just said, "hello" or "goodbye".

And when asked how old he is, he would emphatically say, "FIVE" and hold up his hand.  Don't rush it, rascal.

Big trucks...cool!

He's counting ants on his book here.  He loves ants and bugs.

Oli and Julia were very excited to spoil their little brother with affection and gifts.  I let them shop on their own at a store for his birthday and that little bit of freedom certainly made the whole process more fun and special to them.

New strider bike!

"I like my new bike but this old Dora big wheels may still be my favorite!"
